TOUCH - A LIFE FORCE

In my practice I utilize several facets of touch therapy. Because I work in so many areas of the hospital, including: dialysis, ICU, CCU, NICU, pediatrics, same-day surgery, and all forms of 'end-stage' in addition to being a certified doula and infant massage instructor, I need different modalities or combinations for each patient. I use music, special hypo-allergenic botanical lotions, and visualizations along with breathing techniques to assist my patients.

I recently gave a talk, including a demonstration, on 'Touch Therapy in the Pediatric Hospital Setting,' to a group of Chicago hospital Child Life Coordinators, . I will be speaking again in Nov., to a similar, larger group. While my session fee is generally not covered by insurance, perhaps your physician can order it as alternative medicine.

  • '....Our bodies are wired to be affected by human touch from the minute we are born. I think the best scientists need to be strapped to this rocket. They need to figure out how touch affects the newborn, the toddler, the adolescent, the adult-and the aged who are dying, often in a horrendous state of physical abandonment...'

  • '....Massage has a very unique role to play in our understanding of the human conditon and in healing practices. I think that there is a real science there, not just compassion. They are not mutually exclusive.'
